The Thomas home narrowly avoided a blaze when an oil stove near a window ignited curtains and papers after Mrs Thomas left to bake. A draft likely fed the flame, and smoke filled the house before the fire burned out. Fire suppression was not yet available, prompting questions how the incident could have escalated.
The Beaver County Board of Commissioners met June 17 1915 with T P McLain as chairman and adjourned to 6 p m. The board fixed taxable valuation of school lands except sections 10 and 36 to align with appraised value unless lower by the assessor. A case against G W Taylor from the justice court was dismissed for lack of evidence. Official copy certified by J H M Bolick county clerk. Dray and Pook Laughier left for eastern polate yesterday.
County commissioners heard testimony on ousting G. W. Taylor Jor Justice of the Peace in Gray district. They found insufficient evidence to remove him and dismissed the action amid a divided crowd. The dispute centered on Taylor and Rage dale with tension between neighbors.
Clyde Gregg of Beaver, a Republican member of the county election board, is recommended to the state board for re appointment and is expected to be commissioned for the upcoming term. The Herald commends his past faithful service and anticipates continued good work.

Shock struck the community Monday when news arrived that the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Miller of Liberal was killed by a sand bank while digging out a den of coyotes on a Cimarron ranch near Arkalon Kansas. The young man, about 21, was born near Clear Creek and grew up there before moving with his family to Liberal. Funeral services were held in Liberal Tuesday with relatives from Elmwood and Forgan among the attendees.
