County Agent B. M. Jackson urges farmers to combat grasshoppers with poisoned bran bait and trapping. Instructions describe mixing bran with lime green poison and fruit juice, forming stiff dough, and placing bait in rows along field edges to attract and kill hoppers. Also notes on drought and crop prevention methods, plus local farming and weather impacts.
Early traffic rules mandate driving on the right, overtaking on the left, and yielding at intersections. Vehicles must signal before passing and ambulances or police vehicles receive absolute right of way in any street or procession. Violators face fines from one to fifty dollars.
Obituary recounts Rhody Ann Gilman White born August 1 1826 in Alfeed Maine. Married December 25 1844 to John Wesley White. After living in Maine Indiana and Missouri the couple moved to Sedgwick County Kansas in 1874 near Maine. She died June 10 1915 at age 88 10 10. Funeral at Van Giewen home with Rev Wollam of Friends Church. Interment Colwich cemetery beside husband. Survived by eight children including George G White Mrs Mell J Van Gieson and Mrs Rhody C Webb all of Wichita and others in Missouri and Kansas. Also twenty two grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. The obituary notes many relatives and longtime friends in Beaver County and Wichita area.
