At the first regular meeting of the new Board of County Commissioners on July 6 the Herald was designated the official county newspaper for legal notices during the new term. The paper also won county job printing at a cost designed to cut expenses, with any wholesale savings passed to the county. The board vote was unanimous, renewing the prior term’s arrangement, noted as a fair deal with implied reductions in future costs.
The Beaver group including the F C Tracy W H Thomas and R A Maple families report safe arrival in California. They rest a week at Long Beach then plan to explore the state enjoying fruit flowers scenery and salt air.
