Boost for Good Roads in Oklahoma meets despite rain

Rain hindered the Woodward Good Roads rally on the twelfth but a Beaver delegation and others reached the event. Officials announced the C A A Trail No 1 from Oklahoma City to Beaver via Woodward Laverne and Clear Lake with disc plate marking next week. An ensuing celebration in Clear Lake included a Beaver Laverne baseball game. enthusiasm for the highway remained high.

Plenty of moisture boosts harvest in Beaver County

Beaver County has seen ample rainfall over the past weeks. Rain arrived with harvest and continues, including a shower on the Fourth and steady rain earlier this week. Harvest remains largely uninterrupted as crops prosper.

Christian church hires pastor for summer capacity

Rev. Justin Needham of Enid fills the pulpit here and is employed by the Christian church for the season. J. B. Meador of Fidelity Grain reports strong wheat trading. elevators show steady business as harvest proceeds with prices around one dollar. Frank Clapper recovers from a wheat beard injury and Jude Stevens visits Kiowa relatives over the weekend.

Beaver High School principal bid farewell after farewell party

Mr and Mrs R H Loofbourrow entertained many youths Monday night honoring C F Sweat principal of Beaver high school who lived at their home The evening featured cards and dancing Refreshments were served Sweat leaves this week for Guymon and will not return to Beaver schools next year His work in Beaver High School was praised and he made many friends during his tenure.

Beaver Triumphs Over Forgan In High-Scoring Tilt

Beaver defeated Forgan 7 to 6 as the game swung wildly in the late innings. Beaver led 7–0 after the first half of the ninth before Forgan rallied for six runs, edging toward a dramatic comeback.

Body of Bernola Turner to Arrive Here

Word reached M Turner and wife near Elmwood that Pvt Bernola Lee Turner of the 96th Company, 24th Division U S Marines was killed in action in France. His body is expected to arrive in New York July 15 and funeral services are planned at Capital View Church Elmwood with American Legion in charge. Rev L M Shaw of Weatherford will deliver the sermon. Interment will be in Capital View cemetery.

Commissioner Mendenhall Battles Flu and Rheumatism

Commissioner O O Mendenhall of the first district struggles to recover from a recent flu attack and rheumatism. He attended a special meeting on June 17 and the regular meeting July 6 with assistance from his eldest daughter, but missed a Monday special meeting due to illness.

Revival Meetings Begin at New Hope Church

Rev. Petersen starts a series of revival meetings at New Hope two miles west and four south of Hayd beginning Monday night July 18 all are invited.

Breeders and Business Men Lunch Meeting in Beaver County

A July 2 meeting of Pure Bred Livestock Breeders of Beaver County will gather at the courthouse to form an organization and discuss vital breeder matters. The Beaver Chamber of Commerce will provide lunch at noon, and all breeders are urged to attend for a profitable gathering.

Union Church Services to Be Held This Summer

Arrangements allow Christian and Methodist churches to share union services each Sunday evening throughout the summer. Rev Butler of the Methodist and Rev Needham of the Christian church will preach alternately outdoors in front of Art Quinn's Cash Store on Dougton Avenue. Needham is slated to speak next Sunday night July 17.
