A cold snap following New Year brought 19 below on Tuesday after a weekend of four to six inches of snow. The storm’s chill eased Wednesday as ground moisture improved and stock feed remained plentiful. Beaver County Farmers Prove Crops Can Pay With Right Methods

Death of Mrs Beebe of Bix Mile

Dre G W Beebe of Bix Mile mourns the passing of his wife Mrs Beebe after a long cancer illness on January jd. The remains were moved to Chicago for interment. A beloved neighbor and friend, she lived a life of love and kindness, leaving no children. The husband receives the community’s deepest sympathy.

Death of A L McPherson in Red Rock

Word arrived of A L McPhersons death at Red Rock where he perished recently while driving a balky or fractious team. He had once presided over the Bank of Heaver City and was a well known local figure. His loss is deeply regretted by the community.

County Officer Upholds Bootlegger Sentence on Lovelace

In a case heard at Shattuck, Lovelace was found guilty of selling whiskey. Judge Squire set 60 days and a $2 fine. An appeal to the criminal court of appeals upheld the county court, and Lovelace began serving his sentence in jail. Three other bootleggers are also jailed in the county.
