The Central Michigan Bean Jobbers association held its annual meeting in Alma with about a hundred fifty members and families present. Reports by secretary and treasurer were given in the morning at city hall, followed by crop outlook discussions. officers were elected, and a noon banquet for 150 attended with addresses stressing cooperation and railroad relations.

Death of Gratiot pioneer Benjamin Ray at 97
Benjamin Ray, a longtime Alma resident and one of Gratiot's pioneer citizens, died last week aged in his dth year due to old age. Born November 5 1822 in Liroy Ohio, he married Nancy Post in 1844 and moved to Michigan in 1875 then to Arcada township before settling in Alma twelve years ago. He and Nancy raised six children, all living, and joined the Methodist church in Paw Paw in 1849. Funeral held Sunday at 1 40 pm with Rev Thomas G Brownlow officiating and interment at Ithaca.

Ben Jones Injured In Gas Explosion Near Store
Ben Jones of the Gra viot County Gas company suffered bruises and a cut above his eye after a small gas explosion last Saturday while piping in the new Fortino Brothers store room rear of their fruit shop. The blast tore tile from the wall and prompted the gas company to issue strict match-use orders for employees.
