Alma College Names Faculty and Expands Kindergarten Program
Alma College announces preliminary examinations start September 1 and regular work September 11. Four faculty vacancies filled, including biology and geology chair E N Transeau A M Ph D. Two new leaders, Miss Clara Mingins and Mrs Eleanor Periam, join the enlarged kindergarten curriculum with a five year path to a college degree. Athletic director will be Hache D Brighten from Oberlin, and coach Toe Wilson, formerly of Wabash, returns to lead Alma athletics alongside Miss Mingins and Mrs Brightman.

Alma Manufacturing ships gas engines to Alabama and displays at Grand Rapids
The Alma Manufacturing Co sent a car load of McVicker gasoline engines to Alabama including three 15 hp units and engines from 2 to 7 hp. Two engines were sent to Grand Rapids for display at the fair. Improvements at the Alma Sugar Co factory under L M Lawson near completion with the Restitution Process ready for installation by October 1. Jobs openings listed as preparations for the next campaign proceed with applications urged.

Bridge widening and wall work near Superior Street Mill Race
A large force extends stone abutments under the Superior Street bridge over the mill race and relocates the foot bridge to align with the sidewalk. The improvement widens the crossing, easing wagon and team passage. Concurrently the Alton Roller Mills builds a new stone wall along the race and plans a cement walk in front of their property.
