St Alma Shrine Exemplifies Degree in Grand Rapids

On Friday afternoon fifty members of St Alma Shrine travelled to Grand Rapids to exemplify the degree for about 400 Grand Rapids members and visiting souls. Mrs Mary Bistline Worthy High Priestess and a cast of 38 received compliments on the fine work. The Eastern Star room at the Masonic Temple was crowded with 500 members present. Alma Shrine returned home Saturday morning.

Dr. Hugh Cabot to Speak in Alma at 3:30 p.m.

Gratiot County Medical Society announces a talk by Dr. Hugh Cabot, dean of the University of Michigan Medical School, at Alma High School auditorium on December 14 at 3:30 p.m. The talk, "Germs and their relation to human life," complements the University Extension health education program. J L Turco, Detroit, assumes Alma Electric & Battery Co. management, plans to expand and move family to Alma.

Schools enroll many Crusaders in hygiene drive

Michigan schools have issued 40 000 chore cards to students with 60 000 more expected by Christmas as part of a health crusade. The card tracks home hygiene habits and is taught at district teachers conferences with support from the Michigan Tuberculosis Association and state health and education departments.

Lyceum Notes Pushing Sale of Community Course Tickets

Arrangements are complete for selling Lyceum Course tickets with canvassing across the city. Tickets may be secured at banks and drug stores. reserved seats at Murphy's Drug Store cost 50 cents for the six numbers, with singles at 10 cents per seat. Good seats may be had without reservations as sales exceed expectations. the Lyceum aims to improve individuals and communities and promotes family-friendly programs with the Harp Ensemble drawing praise from neighboring states. Bishop McConnell opens the course on November with a new lecture replacing the announced topic Mexico. The Lyceum emphasizes community betterment and friendship, offering scratch pads at the Record office.

Pine Avenue Work Nears Completion on Bridge Project

Paving on Pine avenue is advancing rapidly while new concrete abutments are poured to support a steel bridge. Once the abutments cure, the steel framework will be added, and the entire bridge covered with concrete. The project aims to widen the Superior Street outlet and remove a long noted dangerous corner.

O'Meara Urges Trust At Trade Luncheon

Mr F C O Meara of Grand Rapids spoke before the St Louis Board of Trade at a noon luncheon. He warned against suspicion among men and argued business is a human relationship rooted in mutual rights and shared effort. He traced business back to creation and stressed earning rewards according to work done.

Violin Recital by Roderick White at the Chapel

Roderick White presented a diverse program drawing a small but appreciative audience. The virtuoso displayed versatility and refined technique with selections including Grieg Sibelius and Rimsky Korsakov, earning encores and praise for his interpretation. Cameron White and Waltzes by Brahms featured, with Isaker and Corwin accompanying. They travel from Michigan Agricultural School to study agricultural products across states and toward Central America.

Maccabee Clinic to Be Held in Ithaca

Frances E Burns announces a children's clinic at the Methodist church in Ithaca on Wednesday November 1. Dr Blanche Haines directs with Dr Sarah T Chase assisting. Campaign at Alma Sugar Plant Opens 1922 Beets Campaign

The Alma plant of Michigan Sugar Company begins its annual fall campaign as beets from the 1922 crop start slicing. Expect 70 to 40 days of processing, with over 75,000 tons to be processed and about 50,000 tons under local contract. Strong beet harvest and fair weather support a robust season with economic benefits for Alma and Gratiot County workers. Also notes Alma’s fast racehorse War Cushing and a new agricultural school near Vienna offering vocational training and daily hot and cold meals.

Fall Cleanup Week Begins on Monday

Armistice Day Plans By George W. Myers Post No 132

Armistice Day observance planned by George W.
