Alma College Banquet Honors Inauguration Guests

President Hutchins of Michigan and leaders from other colleges spoke at Alma College’s banquet at Wright Hall following the inaugural address. Toastmaster J. F. Mitchell. synod, trustees, faculty, alumni and guests attended. speakers from Albion, Detroit, Adrian, East Jordan and beyond offered congratulations and encouragement for President Blaisdell’s new tenure.

Tuesday Mishap Leaves Katherine Ellison Bitten and Hurt

Katherine Ellison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ellison, was bitten on the lips by a dog in a grocery store late Tuesday afternoon. She was treated by Dr. Gardner for slight wounds and pain, and earlier that day slipped from a box, striking her chin and wounding the counter.

National Progressives Address in Realty Opera House

Hon J W Patchin of Traverse City and W D Gordon of Midland spoke to three to four hundred people at the Realty opera house last Friday. Patchin seeks Congress from this district while Gordon runs for Lieutenant Governor. Inaugural Program and Anniversary Day at Alma College

The Synod of Michigan attended a morning service at Wright Hall with a procession led by the senior class. Rev. James M Barkley gave the anniversary address on Alma College’s history. Rev. Jay Clizbe and Dr. Starker presided as the program included choral numbers and the college song.

Cyclone Ravages Bowman Farm. Fatality Reported Nearby

Severe storm winds and a cyclone struck two miles south of Unis city Friday night wrecking the Bowman farm. Mrs Howmat, seventy, died in the house collapse. Everson escaped unharmed. Barn, orchard, and outbuildings were destroyed, with total area about 20 rods by two miles. property damage estimated in the thousands. Bodies were scattered across the wreckage as investigators cleared the scene.

Destructive storm wrecks homes and barns across district

A severe windstorm tore through the district destroying a barn and part of a foundation, hurling a man eighty feet and injuring him while burying lumber under wreckage. Bowmans and Everson escaped with injuries, and multiple farms report damaged sheds, toppled trees, and killed cattle. About 5,000 visitors toured the destruction area as Sunday turned sunny.

Riverdale post office burglary leads to capture of Charles Eastman, an experienced thief. Race Couple Celebrates Twenty-Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Last Friday at the residence of Mr and Mrs J W Race their twenty fifth wedding anniversary was celebrated with decorations a noon luncheon a six o clock three course dinner by Misses Lizzie Ferris Edna Hansen and Nina Maurer a 3 20 pm automobile tour of factories and Masonic Home stops an evening theatre.
