Graduating Exercises at Alma Training School for Nurses

The Alma Training School for Nurses held commencement in the San Parlor of the Sanitarium last Friday evening. The class, seniors and juniors, walked in to the Alma Orchestra as bouquets were carried. The program featured essays on hydrotherapeutics, class history, and remarks by Dr. Pettyjohn and Dr. Lancashire. Diplomas and badges were presented, followed by a seven course Table d hote dinner in a T shaped arrangement with roses at each plate.

A Pleasing Sight at Alma Public Kindergarten

A reporter visited the Alma Public Kindergarten in the old M E church last Monday and found a bright, spacious room with wall pictures and woodcuts. The major drawback is an echo that tires both teachers and pupils. enrollment reached thirty two as classes form by knowledge of form and color while teachers guide early learning through hands on activities and color tests.

Woolen mill fire devastates village store and jobs

Last Friday about ten o'clock the village woke to a fire that destroyed a woolen mill owned by Harry Moore. Firefighters arrived too late to save the tinder dry building and its contents, with no insurance. About six pounds of wool were saved, half the stock. The mill has fed local work and brought in trade, and rebuilding is doubtful. Sealed bids will be received for one item by October 10.

Grand Opening Draws Crowds at Saginaw Store

The Saginaw Store opened to the public yesterday with heavy foot traffic, showcasing reduced prices on domestics and calicos, lace curtains, ribbons, dress goods, bedding, and a large millinery and jewelry display. Proprietor L Hirschkowitz received best wishes from Riverdale as crowds toured a well arranged general store.
