Alma garages relocate to new Alma sites with expanded services

Dodge garage under D F E Hall now occupies the first floor of the Berman block with a larger service station and repair shop at the rear and remodeled sales and display areas. The Buick garage moves to the Spinney block with a large rear room for repairs and a service station, all to improve capacity and facilities as remodeling winds down.

Flint Central Defeats Alma Eleven in Hard Fought Contest

Flint Central outslugged Alma 20 to 7 in a tightly contested game. Elvis led Flint with standout work, supported by Anderson and Furgerson on the line. Flint scored early, blocked a punt for a TD, and finished strong in the final period to seal the victory.

Welfare Association Baked Goods Sale Featured

A Welfare Association food sale at Mr. GV Wright's Furniture Store will showcase spiced brown cakes, chocolate cakes, white cakes, doughnuts, pies, rolls, and home baked loaves all made with Gold Medal flour. Alma Merchants Plan Four Day Trade Extension Sale

Alma Chamber of Commerce officials and Alma Merchants Bureau members announced a four day sale October 19 to 22. The cooperative event promises back to pre war prices, real bargains, and a raffle with a Chevrolet car as final day prize. Fisher's orchestra from Kalamazoo will provide daily music for shoppers in central Michigan.

Wright Avenue Open to Traffic in Alma Paving Under Way

Work on the trunk line paving along East Superior street is progressing with concrete laid from the current paving to the city limits. Holmes, in charge, aims to finish by October 25, with Wright avenue paving opened from the city line north to Elwell street and traffic detouring east to State street until the final stretch to the Ann Arbor freight yards is complete. The East Superior segment between Euclid and Bridge streets is ready to open, pending railroad sidetrack leveling. A second item notes a meeting of Alma musicians pursuing a new city band, held at the Chamber of Commerce, with plans for another gathering soon.

Golf Club Plans Forming In Alma For 1922

A committee led by Dr E T Lamb and George P Ward is drafting plans to form a golf club in Alma with a nine hole course possibly shortened on start. They aim for spring 1922 with several good sites under review and hope to attract over 100 members in Alma and nearby areas.

The couple, both known in Alma, plan to make Alma home after a wedding trip through northern Michigan. Alma College to Meet Detroit Junior Saturday in Season Opener

Alma College football coach Roy Campbell brings a largely inexperienced team to Detroit to face Detroit Junior College in a hard fought contest. Alma seeks early victories after a comeback win over the Aggies while Detroit Junior, coached by Holmes, fields a strong squad. Wholesalers to Visit Alma for Trade Extension Tour

The Alma Chamber of Commerce and the Merchants' Bureau prepare for Grand Rapids wholesalers to visit Alma on Thursday October 13. About sixty arrive by the Ann Arbor pullman train for a four day trip, with Mt Pleasant and Saint Louis bound legs, returning to Alma at 11 50 and leaving southward shortly after. The Furniture City band, led by Orrin Bonnie, will provide music during the visit.
