The health department plans free three injection influenza vaccination at city hall to stamp out the flu and lift public gathering bans. After the third inoculation holders get a card to attend events without a mask. those refusing must wear a mask at public gatherings until the epidemic ends.
Alma College braces for a strong season under coach Harry Helmer as hopefuls Richards and Topy of Detroit and others vie for spots. The article notes last year’s near-championship team as a benchmark and mentions a limited early schedule against Be M Plresant Normal and Mt Pleasant, with broader military aid concerns and local fundraising by the Victory Boys and Gratiot County girls backing the Patriotic fund.
Lewis A Carpenter of Cropp Portlan donia county is accused of fabricating the young woman's age to obtain a marriage license. George Myers aged about sixty years resident of Moeasant avenue was found dead in his home Monday morning. A revolver lay nearby with three cartridges, one empty shell and two unused rounds. He apparently shot himself through the mouth. Relatives arrived shortly after the discovery. Funeral held Wednesday afternoon with interment in Riverside cemetery.
Indications point to limited state aid as Pers Marquette and Ann Arbor railways proceed with an addition to the east end of the passenger station for American Railway Express. Milton Jackson has obtained the position of chief chemist in the Wright-Martin Aircraft Corporation of New Brunswick New Jersey. The post is highly respectable and offers a splendid chance for broad professional experience in aviation materials and process chemistry.
Lyle Smith of Avis city, ten years old, saved a baby fallen from a rear platform as a train passed Wear Center and Lincoln. He released his violin, caught the infant uninjured, and a stretcher brought the child to the mother, who thanked him and left without giving a name.
Several residents died in the past week in this city including Wilheminn Halls of 212 South Court Street and Mildred Banthy, both buried after services in Riverside Cemetery. William Chambers, 24, died at Brainerd hospital. Alvin F.E. Brown, which died of stomach cancer at age shown, buried in Riverside. Harry Set, 19, died after influenza with services at home and Riverside burial.
