Fire at Gino Hill shop. slight damage and insured loss

A small blaze swept through the rear of Gino A. Hills bicycle shop near Habbell's bazaar, caused by a gasoline tank explosion. The one story building roof caught fire but was quickly controlled by the fire department despite gusty northeast winds. Most stock was saved, with minor roof damage and holes. insurance covers the loss. Nearby residents were not harmed.

Musical Teal and Chorus Shine in School Program

A college concert last Tuesday showcased a Tremp of David by Thornton, with strong performances from Miss Hooper Miss Ward and others under Mrs St John. The chorus and soloists, notably Miss Conant and Mr Bagley, received high praise for their refined technique and musical unity.

Joneseyog River Farmers Clot Meeting at Hawley Home

The Joneseyog River Farmers' Clot gathers at Mr and Mrs Francis Hawley home on Thursday June 11 1001. Program includes a prayer by chaplain Murie address by Mrs Hawley reading reports and papers by several named members. Telephone notice warns residents to avoid using phones at businesses to prevent customer disruption and to contact central office for service.

Teachers Institute Begins in Ithaca Next Monday

The Gratiot county teachers institute will be held in Ithaca starting Monday August 6 and run for one week. Superintendent B Bennett of West Branch serves as conductor with Prof. Jas Mitchell of Alma College and Miss Margaret Waklee of Mt Pleasant Normal assisting.
