The Misses Grace John son Addie and Beryl Inglis were involved in a Pine River boating incident. Authorities report a mishap on the water with the three women, noting injuries and ongoing investigations into the accident circumstances.
Three young women from Alma College went canoeing on Pine River near Alma. A sudden rainstorm founded the craft. Miss Grace Johnson, 20, drowned while Miss Beryl Inglis, 16 or 19, and Miss Addie Johnson survived with help from bystanders. Miss Inglis pulled Addie Johnson from the water, and Grace was lost in the current. Funeral held in Lapeer. Miss Johnson longtime local and athletic student.
Conductor Ray Welch of a Pennsylvania freight train was severely injured Monday morning when a caboose backed into his exbox car in the yards near the station. He was thrown against the railing, suffering a crushed cheekbone and other head wounds. the caboose traveled 75 feet before stopping. Welch was treated at Dr Thig's office and returned home to Tonia that evening.
Lansing action passed by both houses aims to turn 40 000 acres of agricultural land in Foseo and Alcona counties into a state forest reserve. It seeks to prevent timber lands sale at low prices and urges continued reclamation to value remaining lands for public benefit and larger forest reserves nationwide.

The Alma College baseball team lost 11 to 0 to Ypsilanti at Davis Field in poor weather. A crowd of about 650 attended, and the Athletic Association netted $55. A Wright House banquet for the team followed, with speeches by Capt. Campbell and others praising the players and backing from business leaders.
