Spirited Runaway on State Street Ends Calmly

Monday afternoon Mr and Mrs Harvey Humphrey and their daughter rode into town. A runaway horse caused danger as the driver lifted a child to the sidewalk. An approaching car spooked the horse and the rig toppled briefly. Mrs Humphrey steadied the frightened animal and halted it in front of Delagan's store to the crowd’s relief.

A Mt Pleasant blacksmith, from John F Myers of Shepherd designs, is constructing a seven ton “logo mobile” for use as a jogging track vehicle to be shipped to Alabama. Weighing seven tons, it features wide rear wheels, a long deck, and a 40 horsepower gasoline engine. Estimated cost is £5,000 with completion slated for next week.
