Pomona Grange Meeting at Pleasant Valley Hall May Twenty Fourth

The Gratiot Pomona Grange meets Pleasant Valley Grange at their hall seven and a half miles north of St Louis on Saturday May 24. State Master John C. Ketcham will lead a high quality program in a convention expected to draw a large crowd. Lansing District Epworth League Convention Heads East

Alma High baseball beats St Louis High 17 to 5 in windy game

Alma High School defeated St Louis High 17 to 5 as Captain Perry, Highfield, Smith and Mindell led a strong offense. Charles Depew pitched well for Alma, while the defense was sharp with Simonton, Dancer, Stimpson and Steggle forming the standout infield. Wood, Peacock and Goodrich contributed solid outfield play and several three base hits highlighted Alma’s victory.

Dental Association Meets in Wright House Banquet

Representative dentists from Isabella and Gratiot counties gathered last Friday at the Wright House for a banquet and convention. Eleven dentists attended including Richardson McDonald Sheline Skinner Ranger Pettitt Ludlum Lampman and Pringle Beshgetoor Gill. Papers on Synthetic Porcelain were read by Pettite and Skinner. Officers were re elected: M Skimmer Ithaca President Sheline Mt Pleasant Vice President F A Gill Alma Secretary Treasurer. A six o'clock banquet preceded a social hour. A committee was named to coordinate a joint convention with the bar and medical associations in August.

Debating Club Banquet a Fine Affair at Alma High

The seventh annual Alma High School Debating Club banquet was held in the High School building Friday evening with seventy four guests. Ward Hodge led greetings and Theodore Gates spoke on lasting impressions, while guests included sixteen graduates and six faculty members. The menu featured tomato bouillon, chicken croquettes, mashed potatoes, peas, breads, fruit salad, Nabiscoes, pineapple tea, assorted cake, and punch.

Deal Nearing Completion for Republic Truck Co Relocation

City Band Organized in Alma with Weekly Summer Concerts

Last Wednesday night the Alma City Band began its weekly street concerts, running every Wednesday through late fall. Officers elected include Perley Smith as president, Robert Sherwood as secretary, Ray Tomlin as treasurer, and Charles C Ward as director. The band lists many named players with instruments, supported by a committee from the Alma Commercial Men's association, a movable band stand, and paid remuneration for participants.
