Alma Men Enlist Shift Shows Draft Growth In Alma Area

The Alma region sees rising enlistments as draft week nears with twelve more young men joining. Among the recent enlistees are Armur Bradt Clarence Gruesbeckh and John Freeman of Shepherd. Louis Hezeman and Orin H Riker of Ithaca. Tan Cole Avery Boone from Alma. Cecil Stockwell North Star. Glen Rudson Richard Seitz Riverdale. Jessie Hulwick Elwell. and Walter Dorman Reed City. Alma also sent a man to an officers training camp and some locals left for farm work, boosting Alma's entry week toward about thirty. The city council plans to discuss a bond issue at its next meeting, aiming for at least 8000000 dollars for municipal improvements, with legal review by Attorney McNeil of Detroit before submittal. A special election date will be set to approve the bond and accelerate summer improvements aimed at supporting growth and essential services.
