Five Hour Search Fails to Find Tragic Boy

A boy named Frederick Fredrick drowned after falling from a Pere Marquette bridge into a river while attempting to cross a shelf. Paul Bennett tried to save him, then alerted workers as efforts to recover the body continued through the evening with dynamite and boat searches. The tragedy occurred after school while the two friends were returning from practice. The parents were notified and arrangements were made for the funeral.

Bullard Backed for Woodmen Board by Michigan Camp

The Modern Woodmen of America state camp at Flint endorses E. J. Bullard of Detroit for a national board seat. Bullard has led the Michigan society for fourteen years, guiding growth to over four million members. City Men Pass for Fort Sheridan Officer Training Camp

A group of local men and nine Alma College students passed examinations to attend the Fort Sheridan officers training camp. Notable among the locals is former city attorney James A Greene, likely to be called to Fort Sheridan. Proposed War Tax Bill Hits Things Hard

The war tax bill now debated in Congress would be sweeping. It would hit all classes, with income taxes starting at $1,010 for single earners and $2,000 for married couples, and a four percent rate at $6,000. Lad Hit by Automobile Severs Skull Fracture

Roy Powell about twelve, of Ware, was badly injured last Saturday when struck by an auto driven by Paul Birmingham from the Republic Motor Truck plant. The boy darted from a rear rig, collapsed unconscious, and was rushed to Bruner hospital with a skull base fracture but his condition improved. Alma College Cancels Athletics for Rest of Year
