The Republic Trucks hold off Saginaw Aces to clinch the series 6 to 1 with a 7 3 victory on Saturday and a 19 0 shutout Sunday. Sherlow pitched well in the first win while Rip Hagerman dominated on the mound for the Aces in the finale, allowing only three hits as the Republics surged early and never relinquished control.

Alma city council reappointed Chief of Police Oscar Vibber after a tense executive session that revealed pressure from political and private interests.
