One of Alma's oldest shops Montigel in Alma
The Montigel machine shop and foundry, started in 1870 by J M Montigel Sr, produced stoves plows and engines. Fire destroyed the plant in 1901. rebuilt quickly with wood shop already in use and plans to restore the foundry. The business expanded to farm implements and agricultural equipment serving the region. Continuous leadership by J M Montigel and family noted for skilled work and modernization.
