Dedicated Flag Service at Presbyterian Church
The Presbyterian Church in this city dedicated its service flag Tuesday evening with an audience of locals. Meek N Notestein presented the flag, Rev. Mrs Phoebe Madden longtime Elwell resident died at home Sunday aged 75 after a illness dating to May. Born September 18 1842 in Middlesex New York she moved with parents to Michigan later living in Oakland Clinton County and St Louis before moving to Edwell. Survived by four children Kay Alma William A Renest A and Olive Lathrop three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral was at the home with interment in St Louis.

Join Gaffney, age about 41, longtime city resident, died Saturday at his mother's home Mrs. Syl Gaffney after a prolonged illness. Born in the city he attended local schools, later became ill with tuberculosis and complications. Funeral services were held Monday at Woodworth and Center streets with Rev. J Frank Jackson officiating and burial in Riverside cemetery beside his father. He leaves a grieving mother, a brother Russell and other relatives in the state.
