Spicer, born in New York in 1825, helped form Pine River township and ran a meat market and wagon shop in Alma. he left a wife and son Charles. Roberts, born 1840 in Gates Go New York, married to W W Roberts in 1861, had two children Gera and Fred, moved to Michigan in 1865, died of paralysis while driving, funeral at Presbyterian church. Bam borough, longtime resident, died after a sudden heart disease attack at home. funeral held at M B church. Community extends sympathy.

Sunday School Convention Draws Large Arcada Township Audience
A Sunday School Convention in Arcada township drew strong attendance despite bad weather. Devotions by Rev H W Clough opened sessions at the Baptist church, with talks by Prof J W Ewing and Mr H Reynolds on subjects from kindergarten work to house to house visiting. W W Kinch was elected secretary, and evening sessions at the Presbyterian church emphasized missions and Sunday school to church links.
