A deer seen near Cedar Lake and Vestaburg was tracked to Elm Hall where Deputy Sheriff Ennis and others waited. Charles Wolfgang of Ferris township was arrested after approaching the hidden deer slayer while others escaped. The incident caused local excitement as a live deer had not been seen nearby in twenty years.

The Masticote plant sale, conducted by Trustee Johnson, has been confirmed by a Referee in Bankruptcy. Lee Jocelyn and W M Bancroft of Bancroft Row Sinclair Co of New Orleans are now the sole owners. Bancroft is a member of a firm known for mill machinery including sugar cane equipment. Little is known about the plant's future, but Mr Bishopic is expected in Alma this week to begin work to restart operations.

Decker family plans Oregon move after homestead bid
Third Ward Supervisor Clark Decker who left June 15 1905 for Eugene Oregon returned to Alma last week with his son Pearl. They endured a long wait at Strasburg land office for the February homestead opening and secured the second Amber tract claim. Pearl’s filing covers a quarter section capable of 5 000 000 feet of fir and cedar lumber. Decker praises Oregon climate and notes W Tinker and Dudley accompanied him to the train.

Fire at Wright House. spontaneous combustion blamed
