Attorney at Law and Solicitor Circuit Court Commissioner BER BATES announces a meeting for Gratiot County residents in Pine River and Mosca Townships. The March 20 meeting at Union School Room discusses bonding up to 20000 dollars to aid construction of an addition to the district’s school building. North Shade Farmers Hold March Meeting at Bemis Home

The North Shade Farmers Club gathered at Mr and Mrs A L Bemis Priday with several Bloomer farm families and village retirees. A picnic lunch was served and topics included penal institutions for women and farm efficiency. Members debated housing female criminals within existing prisons and expanding farming methods to reduce labor costs and improve yields. The meeting also highlighted student discipline and punctuality in local schools.

PUPILS NEED MORE ROOM FOR NEW SIXTEEN ROOM SCHOOL

A special school meeting is set for next Monday evening to decide on a bond issue of 20,000 for an eight room school building on the district property. The crowded high and intermediate grades exceed ideal class sizes, with teachers stretched thin and two rooms already improvised in the old fire hall. The board urges a new building, noting no current debt and citing funds arranged by W. W. Tinker and F. R. Hathaway to support the project.

Surprised Friends Of Mrs Win Anmaugher Gather At Home

Thirty friends visited Mrs Win Anmaugher for an evening at her home. They brought baskets of food and secretly planned to keep her from visiting Ovid. Late that night the group made four comforts and tore and sewed eight pounds of carpet rags while Mrs Weston photographed the scene.

A college chapel audience enjoyed one of the finest pupil recitals from the School of Music. The ensemble pieces by Mint Messinger, DeLang, Wallace, and Dymond drew praise, and violinist Gusinoff made a notable debut. Solo numbers elicited generous applause.

Last Thursday evening organized what will be known as the Alma Business Men's Association to promote the welfare of the tail interests of Alma.
