Local option election denied by Gratiot board

Gratiot county board of supervisors refused to submit a local option question to voters citing insufficient valid signatures. Pine River couple to move to Asia after auction sale

Last week E W Lake of Pine River township announced an auction of stock farm tools and household goods as he and his wife prepare to move to Asia. Over 150 Pine River residents gathered at Forest Hill to bid farewell with a banquet, gifts, and warm tributes from friends and the community. Mr Lake and family will relocate to Aim e this week to take up their new home at 219 Orchard Street.

Special Lansing Train Carries Students to War and Women Contest

A special Michigan Central train from Owosso will run to Lansing and back Friday night carrying college students and townspeople to the Ann Arbor state contest on war and women. At least 150 tickets will be sold. Alma College is represented by Hurd Allyn Drake in the men’s contest and Mrs. GW Sebring in the women’s. Students hope for strong showings and places to prove their merit.

Auction sales promote farm sale in Gratiot county

Miller Brothers have added a twelve hundred pound capacity display counter twelve feet long with thirty six glass front sections for different fruits and vegetables. The drawers slide from front or back, keeping items neat and sanitary while saving space. A McCraw glass front vegetable and fruit refrigerator sits in the back, with ice stored in a receptacle above the produce.

Riverdale Fire Destroys Van Alstine Store

A devastating early Saturday blaze in Riverdale destroyed the Van Alstine Bros. general store and meat market, with estimates of loss around eight thousand dollars and no insurance.
