Middleton restaurant keeper shoots self in despondent act

Christina Howe died at her Alma home after pneumonia. Funeral held Monday at the home by Rev H S Higgins, body sent to St Thomas Ontario for interment beside her husband. Survived by two sons in St Thomas and two daughters, one in Chicago and Robert Erwin of Alma attended.

Installation Service for Rev Alfred Fannell at Presbyterian Church

An installation service Tuesday evening welcomed Rev Alfred Jennings Fannell as pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Moderator Rev Zimmerman presided, Rev A F Hinske asked constitutional questions, Rev Hartley preached on Strength and Beauty, and Rev D Howell urged congregational support. Dr Bruoke gave the pastor’s charge, and Rev Punnell led benediction. Miss Gertrude Whiting sang in the choir.

The Lewiston Morning Star reports the wedding of Arthur J Campbell and Bernice Morey at the bride's parents' home on 56 G Street. Annuity day exercises close with musical program

The Friday evening program in the Opera House concluded the annual class day events. Emily Hooper presented a phono solo, and Rev. A J Fennell offered invocation before Hon. P H Kelley addressed the audience on Does it Pay with Irish wit. The class presented diplomas to John Dunham, Malinda Udelle, Verne Johnson, Nina Ward, Paul Delavan, Bertha Ever, and Catherine Wynne. An Alumni reception followed in the K P hall with social gathering.

Fooled Their Friends Honeymoon Surprise for Mosser Couple

Mr and Mrs Roy Mosser wed at the Episcopal church with brief ceremony by Rev L Ramsey. After the vows they fled to join the groom's parents in Ionia and East Tawae, with Alma friends staging a playful train entrance and rice shower. The couple will visit the bride’s parents then return to Ionia where Mosser will begin pharmacy studies in Big Rapids this September.

Impressive Corner Stone Laid for Catholic Church

Last Tuesday afternoon the corner stone for the Catholic church was laid. The Latin services drew a large crowd. In Bishop Richter's absence, Very Rev. Joseph Schremps presided with several local priests assisting. Father Troy thanked Alma citizens for support and funding. Schremps delivered a strong sermon on the church’s mission as construction to begin at once and proceed rapidly.
