Two New Fras In Alma Change Drug Firms
On Wednesday this week changes occurred in two Alma drug firms. Bivine and Rhodes dissolved by mutual consent with Chas G Rhodes continuing the business and EB A Bivins purchasing the B S Webb drug store building at Woodworth Ave and Superintendent. Bivins, the senior, came to Alma in 1890 and took over the store then run by EB Mahan. In 1907 a partnership formed with OG Rhodes of Elk Rapids and the store purchased. The firm once operated in the opera house block before moving to the corner store after the Pollasky block’s construction. The Union Telegraph company’s exchange has long been located in their store. Rhodes remains trusted and upright, while Bivins takes charge of a well kept, up-to-date stock. Webb retires for health to focus on his farm.
