Ward School Matters and School Board Vote in Arcada District
A Monday school board meeting in Arcada reviewed the director’s report and approved minutes. Trustees elected were Virgil M. Wilson for three years and W. Clark for three years, with other ballots scattered. The board plans to move the Kindergarten to a central site under college supervision and hire an extra primary teacher. A M E church offer to sell their old church for 500 was debated, with a three week adjournment for taxpayer vote on a new ward school.

A freight train on the Ann Arbor line derailed early Wednesday on a high fill near the new railroad bridge. Five loaded cars left the track, some rolling over, while hoboes in a lumber car escaped injury. Wet weather caused a slippery clay bank. ballast will be improved and the fill widened to prevent a repeat of a more serious incident between end and stock cars.

Lake Geneva Conference ends with strong Y M C A impact
The eighth Lake Geneva Y M C A Conference drew about 850 students from 120 institutions in 16 states. John R. Mott led three days of talks on Christianizing students abroad, with other leaders including Safford, Michen er, Torrey, McDowell and Coulter. The event featured daily Bible study, mission work, life work sessions, and state delegates planning for next year while sporting events and a large morning watch pledge boosted missionary enthusiasm.
