A heavy wind storm blew a tree across the railroad near Shepherd, wrecking Ann Arbor train No 8 from Toledo to Cadillac. Engine and baggage car were damaged. one passenger coach derailed. Conductor Bright bruised but not seriously hurt. A hobo riding the engine escaped injury.

Made Bogus Nickels Exposed by Sheriff Weaver In St Louis
Deputy Sheriff Charles W. Weaver tracked alleged counterfeit coins to Sherman and Phillip Osborne after saloon owners reported bogus money in slot machines. Sherman claimed no creation, but led the officer to Phillip who possessed dies and molds. The pair were taken to Bay City for federal action.
