Dr. Lancashire Residence Nears Occupancy In Alma
The handsome new residence of Dr. J. H. Lancashire on State Street is nearing completion and expected to be ready for occupancy mid month. The grounds measure 200 by 650 feet with extensive grading, driveway work, tennis court, and a preserved orchard. The Colonial style house features a broad front piazza, English oak and birch woodwork, a large hall, multiple rooms including a Dutch room, library, dining room, major kitchen and pantry, servant quarters, and a third floor billiard room with sleeping suites. Modern amenities include electric wiring, speaking tubes, central heating by hot water, with plumbing by Weston of Saginaw and electrical work by Rich & Co of Detroit. Construction handled by George S. Young of Alma.
