Alma Michigan Sugar Co plant closed after 107 days of beet slicing from Oct 1 to Jan 25, producing 14 500 000 pounds of sugar from 64 000 tons of beets. Labor paid over 75 000 and farmers received 320 000 for beets from 7 000 acres. Contracts for next season already underway with prospects of larger acreage in 1907.

House Burned at Pompeii in Sudden Fire
A residence in Pompeii occupied by Roy Carr was found on fire at 1 30 PM last Wednesday. The blaze destroyed most of the home, with only a few small items saved. The well kept house, one of the village’s best, suffered total loss. Possible ignition from ironed clothing left near a stove.
