The Knights and Ladies of the Modern Maccabees held a joint installation in their hall last night. Officers for the Knights were named including Past Commander Seely Bolt and D L Sharrar as Goer, with various other posts filled. ladies’ officers were also elected though finance and record keeper positions required re election. Guests from Alma and Forest Hill attended, followed by a fancy drill and a social with refreshments and music into the early hours.

The Record notes architect plans shown in the college chapel to enlarge the campus with new buildings including a dormitory opposite President E Braske’s home and a science and art block. Grounds will feature shrubbery and trees. Improvements for Reading Room Capacity and Auction Postponement

Kalums 200 Normal to meet college five on Wynasium floor
Next Saturday the Kalums 200 Normal basketball team will play the college five on the Wynasium floor. Western State Normal is known for strong teams, so a fast game is expected. A hastily arranged game with Vpsilant! was canceled. Future home games include Adrian Oliver and Yosi. The High School team aims to rebound from a loss to Saginaw Highs, hoping to turn the tables tomorrow with crowd support. Next week they will face Owosso Higas in Owosso. Met Pleasant Normal recently passed through the city between trains after a trip from Holland where their college trained then proper.

Mandamus Sought To Force Local Option Election
Attorneys Stone and Watson filed a local option petition Friday seeking a mandamus to compel the board of supervisors to place the question on the coming spring election. Judge Sears ordered the board to show cause why the petition should not be granted. Service was made Saturday on chairman John L. Smith v Emerson. A hearing was set for Monday, January 11.

Seizure Raid Links Beer to Local Pool Hall Owner
Deputy Shreiffs Ennis Convie and Wiert raided the pool and billiard room run by J. A. Segar and the second floor living area of Mr and Mrs Segar. Officers found beer and a jug in the living room and a small keg in the cellar labeled orange cider beer and tonie me. Segar charged with violating the real option law. He was arraigned before M. R Sal and bond set with J. W. Watson as surety. Segar claims beer was for private use and not from premises.
