Civic Improvement League Holds Annual Meeting
The Civic Improvement league met Friday January 19 at president Mrs Francis King home with about fifty women present. Officers elected for the year include President Mrs Francis King First vice president Mink Sadie Messinger Second vice president Mrs Krank Barnes Secretary Mrs K H Wilcox Treasurer Mrs Geo W Moore and Corresponding Secretary Mrs Lb N Baker. The annual secretary report notes ninety seven members enrolled sixty eight attended meetings with eleven sessions held. Committees reported on park improvements library health surveys and community activities including a mother and daughter banquet and participation in Fourth of July celebrations. Delegates attended state and national women’s associations and an Alma branch of the Michigan Equal Suffrage association was formed. The Red Cross sold Christies seals and the league managed city sanitation drives and park maintenance.
