George King Improving at Wright House Recovery
George King of Grand Rapids, once ill with pneumonia at the Wright House, is slowly recovering. His wife arrived that day and no complications are reported. He expects to be taken home Saturday. Riverdale teacher and student drown after ice breaks
On a Riverdale river last Friday morning Harry Valance age 14 fell through thin ice while skating with a companion. Elbert W. Gibson a 40 year old teacher from Michigan attempted rescue but both died. Gibson's funeral drew countywide attendance with religious and civic groups present.

A large gathering celebrated Mr and Mrs Wana Faulkner of Forest Hill on New Year’s day marking fifty years of marriage. They had no children of their own but helped raise five, migrated from Ireland, settled in Gratiot county, and built two farms. They joined the Church of Christ forty years ago and remain active. An Elder H Russell from St Louis spoke on American progress, followed by a thoughtful address. Provisions and a purse of 17 dollars were given by friends as a token of respect for the couple.
