Hoof and Mouth Disease Found at Merrill Farm
A virulent hoof and mouth outbreak was found at S. R. Siler’s Merrill farm affecting nine cattle and two hogs. Across from Arsena farm, where the first county case appeared, the state vet and U S inspector Dr Hecker investigated and ordered the cattle and two hogs killed. The farm was quarantined.

Elsie Martin the night operator at Union Telephone Exchange faced a narrow escape as Pollasky fire spread before dawn Sunday. Night watchman Oscar Vibber tried to warn her but smoke limited access to the exchange. Martin remained at the switchboard to sound the alarm, nearly overcome before reaching the street as dense smoke filled the burning building hallway.

Masonic inmate dies after stroke at home
Charles Phillips, 64, inmate of the Masonic Home, suffered a shock while walking and became nearly paralyzed before dying last Thursday. He was a member of Ancient Land Mark Lodge No 503 of Saginaw. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon with a delegation from the Saginaw Masonic Lodge present. Winter clothing dry cleaned offered by Swisher.

Perrigo who becomes Studebaker agent for Gratiot County and parts of Saginaw Midland and Montcalm. The brick 54 by 40 foot complex includes electric wiring, a large front office, two plate glass windows, a work rack, four salesmen, three repair staff, and a gasoline station to be opened. stock will include 1914 models with an eager service network locally. Perrigo, with fourteen years hardware and implement experience at Forest Hill, moved to Alma last August and expects to open January 14.
