A Sunday morning blaze in the Pollasky block K P hall destroyed the roof area while spreading smoke and water damage to ground floor shops. J Cohen & Bros suffered the heaviest loss with estimates from 12 000 to 15 000 in stock and insurance. overall damage about 20 000 to 25 000 with building insurance at 15 000. Firefighters arrived quickly and controlled the fire within an hour as the Wright House hosted hot coffee and doughnuts for the crew after the effort.

Was Catching On Bob Sleds Fatal Accident
Miss Alice Giles ten, daughter of Mr and Mrs Adelbert Giles, west of Breckenridge, was struck by a westbound freight on a Monday afternoon while catching on a bob sled near the P M tracks. The train ran over her after horses frightened the sled, severing her left limb and injuring her. she died at Brainerd's hospital despite efforts to save her. Crandell and Scott, funeral directors, took charge and the body was returned home that evening.

Hung in mid air by a twisted chair incident
A telephone lineman, forty plus feet high, was suspended when his chair turned turtle. His arm was pinched between two cables as the weight bore down. A hook and ladder truck arrived, ladders were lashed together, and he descended safely, seemingly unharmed.

An obituary from the Oregon Statesman details Civil War veteran Edward Creech of Salem Oregon buried with G A R honors at City View Cemetery. He served in Company D First Michigan Infantry after enlisting as a youth, was wounded at Chancellorsville, captured and exchanged, and later lived in Salem with a widow and two sons in Oregon.
