The Alma sugar campaign of 1908 produced 12,000,000 pounds of sugar valued near a half million dollars. The 62 day run set a record for the plant under General Manager Jotham Allen and Assistant Manager McKinney. Beet tonnage averaged about 750 tons daily with sugar content above 18 percent. Pay day for beet growers occurred Tuesday with envelopes totaling $87,000 for beets delivered through December 1. later deliveries receive checks early next week.

Albert Dailey, a 47 year old Elm Mall farmer, died after a shotgun misfire while three youths hunted rabbits near A. Ro Marvin's farm.
