Kidnapping Case Involving Deputy Sheriff Shocks Town
Our deputy sheriff is accused of kidnapping a local business man after a proa outing last week. The man forced to Ithaca aboard the Thursday morning Ann Arbor train and later swore out a warrant for assault and battery. Deputy Sheriff Hall detained Messinger until the Ithaca train passed, then the prisoner escaped. Authorities await an afternoon trap and expect Ithaca streets to resound to the deputy's tread.

Methodist Bazaar Shines At Real Street Fair Style
The annual Bazaar by the Ladies Aid Society of the M. E church drew crowds with booths well filled for sale. The Japanese booth and the three ladies in charge drew notable attention. Supper volunteers worked hard to keep up with the steady rush in the dining room. The event was a grand success and praise goes to the hardworking ladies.

One Day Too Late. Ward’s son’s furlough denied by war orders
Ward received a letter from Chief Mushitn Ward of the 80th Midh explaining a hospital discharge came one day too late to grant a furlough. A war department order halted sick furloughs and moved convalescents from Pennsylvania hospitals to Ft Myers Virginia to join their regiment, so Charlie is at the U.S. general hospital rather than home. He says he feels well despite the delay.

Mrs Clark Dies After Long Illness Near Alma
Mrs Wm Clark died Tuesday from catarrhal consumption after long illness. She lived near Alma most of forty years with her husband in Arcada township. At death she was years old and mother to five children, four sons and one daughter. Funeral held Thursday, burial in Riverside cemetery. Card expresses thanks to friends who assisted during illness and death of husband and father.
