Arcada Receives First State Reward for Road Work

Arcada township in Gratiot county earns the first state reward under Senator Eyl's bill passed last session. Highway Commissioner Fred Church oversaw the project built one mile south of Alma between sections 10 and 11. A $250 reward is authorized with another equal amount paid in spring once gravel requirements are met. Pioneer Jobe Faller Sr. of North Star dies at 70

Jobe Faller Sr. of North Star township died Wednesday night at age 70 from heart trouble. He lived in Gratiot county four years and was father to ten children. Funeral set for Monday at 1 p.m. at the Cemetery. Also notes election of Masonic Lodge officers and a live stock exposition coach excursion to Chicago with tickets for sale.

New Asphalt Plant To Cost Fifty Thousand Dollars

The Asphalt Mastic Co of Cincinnati buys the American Asphalt Mastic Co and will invest 50 000 dollars in building and machinery to replace the plant destroyed by fire last September. A 50 ton daily capacity plant with iron buildings, two adjoining acres, and a 100 man force will be erected by mid March. Existing orders total 10 000 tons, with production to continue from a temporary plant run by Mr Worswick until completion. top executives include A Bishopric of Cincinnati president and W H Worswick engineer.
