Ducked And Ducking Fred Gilman faces 60 days in Detroit jail

A misadventure near Alma and Shepherd ends with Fred Gilman captured after a drunken spree. He hired a wagon, rode toward Mt. Pleasant, then back toward Alma where he fell into a creek and wrecked a buggy. Gilman is sentenced to sixty days for cruelty to animals. Albert Fowler also serves fifteen days after a drunken spree ending in Alma and Owosso.

Farewell Reception Held For Rev E H Williams At Alma

A farewell at the parish hall honored Rev. E H Williams rector of St John s church and his wife. About 100 members attended as Junior Warden Ely Brewbaker presented each with a 10 gold piece and best wishes from Alma and the church community before the Williamses leave for Escanaba. Gratiot county receives More state aid funds as Pine River township completes two miles of gravel road from Alma north to Forest Hill. Deputy state highway commissioner Frank F. Young man loses left hand in farm shredder accident

Grover Yarnell, 20, at a farm northwest of town, was injured when his left hand was drawn into a Clarence Rock cart shredder. Doctors at Brainerd hospital amputated above the wrist after the machine was stopped. He withstood the shock and is described as recovering well.
