The farmers school at Mt Pleasant normal has been postponed due to the busy rush of farm work. It will now be held the first week in March.
Alma residents will see a premier play produced by the Alma College Oratorio Association directed by Prof. J Q Adams. The cast is praised for strong condition and lively delivery. Tickets go on sale at Wheaton’s Drug Store Saturday morning.
The Record reports John Knoertzer advances from teller to assistant cashier, filling the vacancy created by C. A. Washburn becoming cashier. Detroit-born in Gratiot since 1801 he joined the bank March 26, 1800 after schooling and early work. He is active in Knights of Pythias and FP and AM, and has 12 years with the city fire department. The bank directors praise his conscientiousness and trustworthiness, and friends extend congratulations.
Tax collectors will be at the Record office Alma every Friday, at St Louis Independent office every Saturday, and Forest Hill every Tuesday in December to collect taxes for Pine River Township. Township Treasurer B A Bauer urges taxpayers to visit. patrons are advised to inspect Christmas window displays in local stores.
A Cadillac despatch reports Mrs William Sell of Ithaca aged 32 was moved from Traverse City asylum to Ithaca to answer a 19 arson charge. She admits guilt and says she feigned insanity though Ann Arbor experts declared her insane. Her troubles began with an attack on her husband and a later fire that destroyed his home. She taunted jailers with her ruse before being sent to Ann Arbor for treatment and later to Traverse City again. Sheriff Convis led the case.
Auvertisen letters listed for the week ending November 2 with names such as Me WoT Narringer Me Cort Mine Beenie and Uheroey Robin son. The notice warns uncalled letters will be sent to the dial letter office December 1 1910.
George Heiman the auctioneer wed Miss Leota Palmer of Carson City on Wednesday of this week. The ceremony occurred at the bride’s grandparents home in Bloomer township Montcalm county. Many friends of Mr and Mrs Melman extend congratulations.
A list of land transfers and deeds across Alma Perrinton and surrounding areas. Names include J Allen StoAC Howes G Phelps and many partners with parcels described by section and quarter. Transfers involve tracts in sections 22 24 1 7 and 2 with valuations around 1100 to 2500 dollars.
Revival meetings started Friday night at the G A R hall led by Evangelist Edward Clotter and his wife from Lincoln Nebraska. They represent the Church of Christ which proclaims no creed beyond the Bible and the Bible alone.
Evangelist Clutter stands as a cornerstone for Christian unity as his Church of Christ revival closes with fifty eight converts. Mrs Clutter directs the music with a trained voice pleasing audiences. nightly special songs accompany sermons illustrated by large charts. Next Sunday at three, a men only lecture by Mr Clatter at the ball draws large crowds and is often repeated. meetings are open to all at Steven Prolock venue.
Arcada Grange ARvada branch met on Saturday November 4 with officers announced and Etward Tiuh chosen as chair. A motion passed to fund a Christmas ire and appoints committees to oversee it. Opened with opening song and hymn, roll call with twenty one members. Scribe Reed Howe and Carl Shaver presented pieces. Carl Titus read On the Road to Mandalay. Penny award given. next meeting to elect officers. all members urged to attend.
State residents backers note the federal suit against the American Sugar Refining Co and named Michigan Sugar Co. as a defendant is not seen as major by Michigan players. An officer says no relief against Michigan Sugar is sought and dissolution would shift stock to Michigan buyers as the industry remains closely tied to the state.
The Michigan Sugar company reports it markets 84 percent of the nation’s sugar and denies any control by American Sugar Refining. Directors include A W Wright Alma, Benton Hanchett Saginaw, and others. officers listed. Also, the Alma sanitarium Masonic home plan moves forward with grand master authorization to prepare occupancy and transfer the home.
Local notices record numerous Thanksgiving visits and departures. Many residents including Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Baker Miss Marlon Pringle Miss Martin Seaver and others spent Thanksgiving with relatives. Several traveled to Ithaca Adrian Rosebush Clare and Detroit while others hosted or visited relatives in Elm Hall Alma McBain and Mt. Pleasant areas.
Letters are awarded to football men for their A grades during chapel. The ceremony, led by Brooke, recognizes players captains and other named athletes for their effort this year. Coaches and students express loyalty and pride as basketball looms after a new hardwood gym floor is laid.
Mrs B Marsoc of Loraine Ohio visiting Geo Bahike returned home Saturday. Mrs Win Thompson Harbor Springs formerly of Alina visiting Mrs P M Smith and friends returned home last Friday. Mrs R Fongle and daughter Phitena left for Winnipeg Ontario to remain weeks with relatives. Mrs R May and daughter Irene of Defiance Ohio, here a week visiting Mrs A Burge, returned home Friday morning.
