Knoertzer Named Assistant Cashier at First State Bank

The Record reports John Knoertzer advances from teller to assistant cashier, filling the vacancy created by C. A. Washburn becoming cashier. Detroit-born in Gratiot since 1801 he joined the bank March 26, 1800 after schooling and early work. He is active in Knights of Pythias and FP and AM, and has 12 years with the city fire department. The bank directors praise his conscientiousness and trustworthiness, and friends extend congratulations.

Pine River Township tax collection schedule announced

Tax collectors will be at the Record office Alma every Friday, at St Louis Independent office every Saturday, and Forest Hill every Tuesday in December to collect taxes for Pine River Township. Ithaca Woman Held On Arson Charge After Feigned Madness

A Cadillac despatch reports Mrs William Sell of Ithaca aged 32 was moved from Traverse City asylum to Ithaca to answer a 19 arson charge. She admits guilt and says she feigned insanity though Ann Arbor experts declared her insane. Her troubles began with an attack on her husband and a later fire that destroyed his home. She taunted jailers with her ruse before being sent to Ann Arbor for treatment and later to Traverse City again. Sheriff Convis led the case.
