Ringling Bros Great Shows Draw Crowd to Alma Streets
The largest crowd in the county since Barnum visited Alma gathered for Ringling Bros. Circus. Early Friday a flood of visitors arrived by wagon train and on foot, filling streets for the parade and pageant. The treasurer reports 85,441 tickets sold for the day and evening shows plus concerts and sideshows, with about 18,000 in Alma. Wilhelmina, set to be crowned Queen of the Netherlands, sent her private portrait to Mr Bok for The Ladies' Home Journal's next issue.
