Thieves Escape After Post Office Safe Burglary

Safe crackers visited the Forest Hill post office early Monday but failed to break the safe. They seized stamps and cash from a task drawer before fleeing in a buggy with two women occupants. Deputy Button traced wheel marks toward Pine River bridge near St Louis, finding the burglars were likely locals.

Alma Graduates Tie The Knot In St John Church

The marriage of Miss Kate Ball to Rev Hugh Nora Ronald was celebrated at St John’s Church this afternoon with about 175 guests. The ceremony was led by Rev C J Ramsay with Rev Rockwell 5S assisting, and Rev David H Updegraft officiating as best man. The church and aisles were decorated in green and white, with musicians providing Browning and Mendelssohn selections. The bride wore white organdie, veil, and carried a prayer book. bridesmaid Louise Strange wore French lawn with sweet peas. Flower girls carried baskets of sweet peas. ushers included Henry H Soule and Wallace F P Webber. A reception followed at the Hall residence. the couple, both Alma graduates, have many friends in Alma.

Electric line accident claims life of Frank Rhodes

Frank Rhodes, 24, of Alam, was electrocuted at 4 PM while working on a West Main Street line for Minion Telephone Company. Lineman Frank Webb tried to pull him away but Rhodes died on the ground. Born in Alam, he lived here most of his life. Funeral was Sunday at 3 PM at his father William Rhodes’s residence with Rev. Harwood officiating.

Auto Accident Injures Alma Women Near Clare

The Clare Courier reports two Alma women Miss Bele Coulter and Miss Ella Stockwell were injured in an auto crash near Clare while returning from Arthur. A 16 year old chauffeur drove the car which skidded on a clay road into a ditch. Both women were taken to local offices for treatment and wrist injuries were noted. Local authorities and medical staff attended to the injured passengers.
