Tragic Train Runover Claims Life of Leonard Braden at Burt
Leonard Braden of Ithaca, 18, died after a Grand Trunk train ran over him at Burt Wednesday night. He was a brakeman who slipped under cars as he tried to move to the rear for heat relief. He died overnight after an amputation at St. Marys Hospital in Saginaw. He leaves a mother and stepfather, Mrs and W W Yerby, and a sister. The body will likely be taken to Ithaca for burial.

Escaped Death In Banister Collision Involving Pierce Pair
Truman Pierce aged 84 and his 14 year old grandson near Banister narrowly escaped death when a horse drawn wagon frightened by a depot area horse ran onto the track just ahead of an afternoon motor car. Turtle bounty from Pine River sparks river trapping boom

A well dressed man about 50 years old committed suicide by shooting himself in the right temple near Whitefish Bay pier. His body was recovered on the beach. A small grip, a revolver, a box of cartridges, a heavy gold watch with an Odd Fellows emblem, and gold cuff buttons were found. The initials C. S. were sewn in his coat pocket. The man was described as tall, well dressed, and possibly once prosperous.

Alma College Player Loses Stolen Salary in Ithaca
Captain Alger Wood of Alma College reported a theft at the Seaver House lobby in Ithaca last Friday. A man dropped a quarter and $ a game salary from Wood’s pocket after he retrieved it, then left. Wood obtained a warrant. the suspect, traveling from Detroit, surrendered the money when confronted by Deputy Helman on the Saginaw train.

A Detroit vaudeville actor known as M E Levitt and alias Hamburg and Lee is sought by local authorities on charges of passing bogus checks. He used false promises and claimed ownership of several playhouses. He obtained $26 from Colonial Savings Bank in New York and $320 from a friend before bank officials found the bank did not exist. He departed by automobile and is believed to be on the way back. police pursue him in Detroit and elsewhere to return him for larceny and unpaid bills.
