Fire narrowly checked near Hofstetters bakery St Louis

A late last Thursday morning a fire threatened Hofstetter's bakery and adjacent structures in St Louis. Fire department and citizens prevented spread to Freeland's store, Dr Vaughn's office, and Alexander's feeds. Losses were limited, with partial coverage by insurance.

Tragic drowning at Lake Van Ean after lake bath event

Miss Souths companion Miss Dorks sank after they drifted beyond the shore line during a lake frolic near Lake Van Ean. Mr Wyatt rescued one girl, but Miss Dorks drowned despite three hours of recovery attempts. Funeral services were held at First M y r church St Johns with Rev C E Hi and others officiating.

Dropped Dead at Vestaburg Home

Isaac Lewis aged 44 of Bowling Green Kentucky collapsed last Tuesday at the home of Charles Garsuch five miles south of Vestaburg after a forenoon of work. He died suddenly at dawn while alone, with no warning. Local authorities recovered the body and transported it for burial.
