Aces Coming to Alma for Spring Training
Saginaw Aces champions of the Michigan Ontario League arrive in Alma Tuesday for three weeks of spring workouts. Manager Red McKee, ex Detroit Tiger, will bring about thirty Aves to Saginaw on Monday then depart for Alma. Six games against the Alma Republics are set for Saturdays and Sundays from April 24 through May 9 ahead of the league opener on May 12.

Monday evening an extensive initiation took place as forty one candidates received the second degree by the Ithaca degree team. Most nominees were from the local lodge with seven from Ergewnod lodge near Sthves and the hilinee being local men. About two hundred fifty Odd Fellows from across the country attended. Nearly every county lodge was represented by large delegations. After the work a substantial banquet was served in the LO, 0, F hall dining room.

Old Alma Resident Daval McCarty Dies Saturday
Marydon LaPaugh McCarty, longtime respected Alma resident, died at home Saturday at age 86. Born in Salem Washtenaw County Michigan in 1840 she married twice, leaving a son and four daughters. her first husband and several children predeceased her. Survived by a sister, seventeen grandchildren, and a brother in California, she was reunited in marriage to Duval McCarty after her first spouse passed. Church membership remained strong throughout life. Funeral held Monday afternoon.
