Berman Married in Chicago Last Sunday
Mr KB Berman of Alma and Miss Ida Ligh of Chicago were united in marriage at the bride’s father home on Sunday evening April 2, 1918. The ceremony was performed by Rabbi Teijowki assisted by Rabbi D Light of Bay City. Over one hundred guests attended and a sumptuous supper followed. Obituary of John Degroft Dies After Stroke in Arcada
John Degroft born in Pennsylvania in 1842 died at home in Arcada on April 4 1916 after a stroke on March 17. He married Phoebe A Wickersham in 1860. they had ten children three decades ago he moved to Gratiot County where his wife died. Funeral services were held at Alma Methodist Church with Rev. Brownlow officiating and interment at Riverside beside his wife.

Miss Gay Zenola MacLaren will present an imitative recital act at the Wright opera house next Wednesday evening April 19 under Alma Lyceum course auspices. First Hike of Junior Scout Troop Delivers Rough Outing

Can Jose Scale Now in Orchards to Seize Our Fruit
The San Jose scale is in many Michigan southwest orchards and, without control, will kill infested trees and spread. State law requires spraying or destroying infested trees to prevent spread. The Alma College Glee Club gave one of the best concerts in the city at the opera house last Friday under Prof Veatch. It capped the season’s tour as a highly successful effort by the college. Death of C E Bonesteel at Wheeler aged 69
C E Bonesteel died at his Wheeler home aged 69. Funeral services were held at the Wheeler M E Church. He came to Michigan as a young man and settled in Wheeler in 1880. He married Thirza E Holdem in 1874. four children were born, one son died in infancy. His wife died in March. He remarried Viola Sexton who survives him. He was a devoted church worker and resident of the community for many years.
