Fred Slater of Shiter & Goodes of this city becomes sole owner of the Tyroler Department Store in St Louis. The purchase from Hornstein and Harmon was completed last week with possession given Friday. Slater will reside in Alma and engage a first class manager for the St Louis store which will stock a high grade merchandise line. The Tyroler store has long been one of the county’s largest, occupying three floors and a basement.

St Johns Man Killed In Tragic Train Accident

Big Bins to Store 10000 More Tons Beets Erected

Prof C A Davis Former College Instructor Dies
Prof Charles A Davies geologist with the government bureau of mines died in Washington this week. He served Alma College and the University of Michigan, taught biology at Alma 1897 1900 and forestry at Michigan 1900 1905. As field agent he studied peat deposits and, in 1907, went to Washington as a peat expert. He earned a PhD at Michigan and belonged to the Michigan Academy of Sciences. He is survived by a widow. He was with Alma College 1807 1900 and was a well known figure with many friends.
