Letter from Florida praises Baylan Home schooling in Jacksonville
A letter read at an Epworth League meeting by Rev. Wooton quotes Miss Iva Salter of Alma College describing Baylan Home in Jacksonville. The school started for six colored girls, now a full campus with dorms and a school building, teaching home crafts, library access, cooking, sewing, and other domestic skills. The writer notes periurban white support, Emancipation anniversary progress, and plans to expand missions including Emerton Home in Ocala and West Jacksonville settlement. She urges the local Alma chapter to support funding to advance the work.
