Saint Teresa's Home Fort Worth Opens for Orphans
The Saint Teresa's Home in Fort Worth began in 1930 to house orphaned and neglected children. It opened February 1, 1931, at 1200 East Maddox Avenue with 15 residents, expanding in 1936 to add a two story stone building. The home grew to support 60 children, added amenities, and obtained debt-free status. The Bishop of Dallas assumed responsibility in 1947 and a chapel mass began July 16, 1952 with regular Saturday services conducted by Holy Name Church priests.
